Cao Lãnh

Cao Lanh is a bustling small city, relatively new and not yet highly attractive, but it provides easy access to rivers, streams, canals, ditches, and wetlands in the Mekong Delta region. Cao Lanh has a pleasant, dry climate, except for heavy rainfall from August to October. Therefore, the best time to visit Cao Lanh is during the dry months from January to March.

To the southwest of Ho Chi Minh City, Cao Lanh is a bustling small city. It’s a relatively new city with easy access to rivers, streams, canals, ditches, and wetlands in the Mekong Delta region.

Cao Lanh has a pleasant, dry climate, except for heavy rainfall from August to October. Therefore, the best time to visit Cao Lanh is during the dry months from January to March.

Keep in mind that September sees particularly heavy rainfall in this area, while May, June, July, and August have average rainfall. Cao Lanh’s attractions include Tram Chim National Park and Xeo Quyt Forest. Both can be reached by boat, but the city itself is surprisingly pleasant for walking and offers a refreshing, natural environment.

Located 35 km southeast of Cao Lanh, Xeo Quyt Forest covers 52 hectares near My Hiep village. It features extensive marshes surrounded by tall trees and lush vines. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the bird sanctuary and Tram Forest (Rung Tram), which is about 40 km north of Cao Lanh and renowned for its rare red-headed cranes.

When in Cao Lanh, visitors can explore the Dong Thap Museum, one of the best museums in the Mekong Delta. The ground floor showcases the province’s anthropological history through sculptures, tools, traditional house models, preserved fish, and a few stuffed animals.

You can also visit the Nguyen Sinh Sac Memorial Complex, which includes a tomb area and a memorial house with a stilt house and fish pond covering 3.6 hectares.

The Ho Chi Minh President’s Mausoleum, located under a shell-shaped monument behind a star-shaped lotus pond, is the centerpiece of the beautiful 9.6-hectare park and exemplifies traditional wooden architecture. However, tourists can only observe it from the outside.
