Hội An

When visiting Hội An, tourists should not miss some of the city’s major festivals. One of these is the Lễ hội Rằm tháng Giêng (Full Moon Festival), which takes place on the 14th day of the lunar month, the night before the full moon. Hội An bears the imprint of cultural fusion and exchange across different historical periods, influenced by Chinese, French, Chăm Pa, and even Japanese cultures.

Let’s explore the enchanting beauty of Hội An Ancient Town. Located in the central province of Quảng Nam, along the poetic Thu Bồn River, Hội An lies approximately 30 km southeast of Đà Nẵng. It is often described as an “alluring Eastern classical charm.”

From the era of Chinese trade, the town was known as “Hải Phố” in Vietnamese. To this day, most of the town’s buildings and streets reflect the unique blend of local and foreign influences that contribute to its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hội An enjoys a warm climate year-round, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing vacation. During the Lễ hội Rằm tháng Giêng, the ancient town comes alive with vibrant decorations, lanterns, and LED lights along its streets.
The “Lantern Festival” is a highlight, featuring colorful fabric and paper lanterns. Similar to Đà Nẵng, Hội An is renowned for its exceptional cuisine, including the famous Cao Lầu noodles—a fragrant dish with tender pork and crispy fried dough, accompanied by fresh herbs. When you visit Hội An, be sure to explore historically significant sites like the Miếu Quan Công (Quan Công Temple) and the Bảo tàng Văn hóa (Cultural Museum).

Today, Hội An is celebrated as a fantastic shopping paradise for unique souvenirs, handicrafts, and antiques. It truly captures the essence of Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage.
